Award-winning alto-saxophonist and MC Soweto Kinch is one of the most exciting and versatile musicians across British jazz and hip-hop at the minute.

He’s sustained an impressively catholic career over a decade or more, amassing a swag bag of accolades and awards on both sides of the Atlantic, including a Mercury Music Prize nomination, two UMA Awards and several MOBO Awards.

His latest enterprise is a fittingly forward-thinking show on BBC Radio 3.

We caught up with him at the recent Jazz FM Awards to hear more about what’s keeping him busy, his favourite new artists and the increasing role of digital technology in the jazz world.

The Jazz FM Awards is a partnership between Jazz FM and Serious, with the support of Grange Hotels, Mishcon De Reya, PPL, RCS, 7digital, Yamaha, Arqiva, Pink Pepper Gin, Fever Tree and Denbies Wine Estate.
