Eccentric songsmith Oly Ralfe has been flirting with the stranger ends of folk, country and indie for well over a decade now.

From frenzied klezmer accordion interludes to off-kilter brass solos, his acoustic adventures embrace musical traditions from Britain to the Balkans.

First as Ralfe Band ringleader, and now as a soloist creating cinema scores and more, his taste for the exotic has reshaped the folkloric landscape and added spice to our acoustic traditions.

Now he’s turned his hand to a solo piano album, exploring his first musical love and adding his trademark eccentricity to the classical genre.

We invited him in to preview some of it on the PRS ivories for World Piano Day last week…
