Soul-pop sensation John Newman has the sort of husky, supple voice that catches the public – and the charts - unawares.

Fairly new to the world of pop, the Yorkshire native catapulted to fame last year through his collaborations with Rudimental on number one single Feel the Love and other hit Not Giving In.

Meanwhile, his Ivor Novello Award-nominated debut solo single Love Me Again and parent album Tribute also hit the top spots in the UK charts - and turned heads in the US too.

We caught up with him on the red carpet at the 59th Ivor Novello Awards to hear how he’s coping with all the hype, what’s in store for his follow-up album, and how his last set ‘had loads of flaws and cons’ that he wants to improve on next time…
