At just 17 years old, singer, songwriter and producer Jamal Woon has already amassed a massive arsenal of skills.
Having spent his early teens directing music videos for the likes of Amplify Dot and Courtney Bennett, he's stepped out from behind camera to create his own beats and breaks.
And, although his mash-up of hook-laden hip-hop and neo-soul is still in its infancy, Jamal is fast finding his voice as one of South London’s brightest newcomers.
We caught up with him ahead of his PRS for Music Foundation and BBC 1Xtra-supported trip to SXSW to find out more about his sonic hotpot and why it matters that his mum likes his tunes…
