Fifi Rong is an electronic pop provocateur who’s as influenced by the deep dark bass of early UK garage as she is the classic rhymes and rhythms of her Chinese homeland.

Now based in London, the Skepta and Tricky collaborator has been making serious waves over the last year or so. Winning love from the likes of The Fader and BBC Radio 1 for the sultry synth-pop and otherworldly electronics of releases including Forbidden Desires EP and Future Never Comes, she’s now working on her debut solo LP.

We caught up with her at SXSW to hear about her very first trip to Austin, Texas, find out where she gets her sartorial cues and learn what’s in store for the eagerly awaited first album…
