Ryan Keen

Emerging singer songwriter Ryan Keen has had the kind of year that most upcoming acts could only dream of. In the last 12 months he has been the special guest on Newton Faulkner's tour, collaborated with Wretch 32 and supported Plan B at the iTunes festival – becoming the only unsigned act to appear on the month-long bill. We caught up with him before his headline slot at London Folkfest to watch him perform his track Old Scars.

In between his own headline tour, a support slot with Leona Lewis and appearing as a special guest on Newton Faulkner’s tour, Ryan has also recorded two EPs.

If that wasn't enough, Ryan has started collaborating with some of pop’s key writers and producers, such as The Nexus (Lana Del Rey), Craze ‘n’ Hoax (Emeli Sandé), Fink (John Legend, Professor Green) and Dan Dare (Wretch 32).

But these opportunities weren't handed to him on a plate. The Totnes born artist has been furiously gigging over the last 14 months, accruing more that 260 live shows and winning a slew of Twitter followers including Ed Sheeran, Harry Styles and BBC Radio 1.

We recorded him during soundcheck at The Bedford, Balham, before his headline set at London Folkfest 2013, to catch his special blend of folk-rock. Watch him perform Old Scars below.
