Manchester quartet Girl Friend tread a fine line between all-out disco party and classic indie-pop, with a sound that sits somewhere in between Orange Juice and Human League.

With a fixation on all things glittery and an eye for a potent hook, they imbue their songs with sun-soaked sass and dance floor decadence.

Although they only formed a few months ago, it’s a vision that’s paying off. Their music already carries the sleek sophistication of a band well into their stride, and has been pricking the ears of bloggers and savvy music fans alike.

Here the perform Style and Substance at an exclusive after-soundcheck live session on the last night of their 14-date UK tour.

Their new EP, Arrive Alone, Leave Alone, was released yesterday on Tri-Tone.
