PRS for Music Foundation is the UK's leading funder of new music across all genres, so you’ll be introduced to some of the best new composers and organisations working in every conceivable niche!

First up, meet Among Brothers – an orchestral pop outfit from Cardiff and London who have received funding in the Foundation’s Organisations & Groups category.

What inspired you to create music?
There are a few obvious influences which can probably be heard throughout our releases - bands which we've been compared to from the start. Aside from other indie bands, we're heavily influenced by film and literature. The title for our new single, I Am Certain / I Do Not Believe is taken from chapters in We by Zamyatin.

'Experimental pop' is probably the most accurate description!

What has the PRS for Music Foundation funding enabled you to achieve?
Mainly, we've been able to get out on the road and tour. PRS for Music Foundation have given us the chance to promote ourselves effectively, which tends to be the most difficult part! As a result of the increased exposure from touring and promotion, we've been able to release a single under a Beggars Group label, Too Pure Singles Club. That has been absolutely huge for us.

Have you any tips for other artists applying for funding?
Be specific, and be realistic. Touring is important too: be prepared to sleep on floors, in vans or worse!

What's next for Among Brothers?
Our single I Am Certain / I Do Not Believe is out now on Too Pure Singles Club on seven-inch vinyl, which is very exciting! We're just been out on a small tour, then we're finishing the year with a Christmas show supporting Los Campesinos! in London on 15 December. Next year is shaping up to be another busy one. Without giving too much away: gigs and releases!
