As we head into spring, now feels like the ideal time to explore the wealth of career-boosting opportunities currently available to songwriters.
From industry-led online masterclasses to destination development events like Music Week Poland, and even songwriting retreats at world-renowned recording studios like Rockfield, there are ample openings for songwriters of all genres, backgrounds and career levels to delve into this month.
We’ve pulled together five key opportunities for songwriters to check out in March 2026 — read on below to find out more.
Apply for a place on the Sync MasterCamp
Ever wanted to have your music placed in TV shows, films and adverts? Sync can seem like a difficult sector to break into, but landing that dream placement could feel all the more real through a place on the Sync MasterCamp.
During the three-day virtual programme, successful applicants will get the chance to showcase their talents and establish relationships with music supervisors who are actively seeking songs for their projects. Past participants have gone on to build their sync catalogues and broaden their network of collaborators, landing key placements across TV, film and advertising such as Batwoman, Riverdale and Maybelline.
PRS members are eligible for a discount on the cost of the camp by using the code PRS50$OFF. For more information on how to apply, head to the Sync Mastercamp site.
Join the line-up for the POP up! live series
Kicking off the first of three inaugural showcase events later this month, POP up! is dedicated to showcasing north west-based music creators who are working across pop music.
Backed by PRS Foundation’s Early Career Promoter Fund, the initiative is the brainchild of Manchester-based creative producer and promoter PJ ‘Peej’ Cunningham. Aiming to ‘spark collaborations, celebrate fresh voices and champion songwriters creating bold, emotionally-driven music with main character energy’, the first POP up! showcase will take place on 20 March at the Lowry arts centre in Salford.
While the deadline for performing at that first event has already passed, applications remain open for the second (‘Queer Pop’) and third (‘Pop Club’) events in the series in April and May. Each night will give songwriters the chance to showcase between two and three songs, with each performer receiving a £100 fee. You can find more information about POP up! and apply here.
Head over to Music Week Poland
Taking place in Warsaw from 6–10 May, Music Week Poland is returning for its second year with an enlightening range of live showcases, panels, mentoring sessions and workshops. MWP’s mission statement is ‘to serve as a meeting point where professionals and artists can come together and connect in an open-minded, encouraging environment’.
As hinted at there, the event will have plenty of opportunities to connect with fellow songwriters and key industry figures, including publishers, labels and booking agents.
Tickets are available now, while you can also sign up as a delegate to gain entry to all festival shows, access the delegate database and hear about exclusive networking events.
Embark on a songwriting retreat at Rockfield Studios
Amid the hustle and bustle of everyday life as a songwriter, sometimes the most valuable thing you can do is take some time and space to step back and focus on your craft.
Now in their eleventh year, Pro7ect are hosting their latest songwriting residential at the legendary Rockfield Studios from 10-14 March. Set in the tranquil surroundings of Monmouthshire in South Wales, the space has previously hosted such big names as Oasis, Queen and Black Sabbath — and you could be next.
The upcoming retreat does come at a cost of £1795, but the price includes four nights’ accommodation, all meals included and three writing days in Rockfield’s Quadrangle studio with a Pro7ect producer. If you’re after a more budget-friendly option, Pro7ect are also running a separate masterclass on 14 March — the £225 fee includes time with producer Greg Haver (Manic Street Preachers, Mel C) and full use of a studio and equipment. Find out more details, including the application process, at Pro7ect’s website.
Enter the Young Songwriter 2026 Competition
With its long history of investing in and championing future generations of songwriting talent, the Young Songwriter Competition is back for its 2026 edition. This year's competition is open to aspiring young songwriters worldwide aged between 8-22.
The judging criteria for the contest is centred around pure songwriting talent as opposed to recording quality. Works will therefore be judged on their originality, lyrics, melody, composition and hit-making potential, with the judges specifically looking at three key elements: lyrics, melody and chords/instrumental.
Prizes include a recording session with a top producer in London, software and equipment from Focusrite, and membership to The Song Academy mentoring programme. Entries cost £15 (plus VAT) for each song and close on 31 March, and you can head to the Song Academy’s website to find out more.
