Clara Bond was first spotted by a producer at a vocal showcase when she was just 16 and instantly began working full time in a recording studio.

She spent the next few months recording demos of tracks that songwriters would send in to her, with a view to recording a debut album. But all the while, she was developing her own songwriting.

Two hard-working years followed, while Clara wrote many songs and gigged extensively. She was stopped in her tracks by producers of the film The Mask of Sanity who asked her to write and record the end credits song Lost and Found.

Her latest release, The Chase EP, showcases her knack for penning catchy country pop in the vein of Taylor Swift or Sheryl Crow. Watch this space for a debut album…

I first started writing music because…
I was tired of singing other songwriters' music. And I'm sure a bit of teen angst is to blame.

I have been making music since…
I was 15 and working as a session singer. At school, I'd be watching the clock all afternoon waiting for the bell to ring so I could rush off to the studio. Maybe I wasn't the best student...

My music is…
Lyrically based. It's always been so important to me that people can relate to my lyrics, and it's not just background noise.

You'll like me if you listen to...
My music is compared to Taylor Swift quite a lot, which is a huge compliment. I'd love for that kind of success.

My favourite venue is…
Koko in Camden is stunning. It looks like an old theatre. I've watched bands there and would love to perform there one day.

Music is important because…
It's so powerful! A great song has the ability to change your mood far more than a good book or movie - in a fraction of the time.

My biggest inspiration is…
Love. It's never black and white and no two relationships are the same. The ups and downs of a relationship are inspiration handed to you on a plate.

My dream collaboration would be…
I would love to write with the messiah of songwriting, Diane Warren. Or do a duet with James Morrison. His voice is so unique.

To try my music out, listen to my song…
Back To You if you want something upbeat or Superman for a ballad.

If I wasn’t making music I’d be...
Restless. I'd be happy to work elsewhere in the industry but I wouldn't feel fulfilled.

In 10 years time I want to be...
Still making music, with a few successful albums under my belt. That or in a platonic marriage with Mila Kunis.
