MCPS Commercial Playlisting Licence

The Commercial Playlisting Licence gives you the flexibility to create and download playlists that fit your business– whether you're motivating members through a workout, setting the mood in a café, or creating the right atmosphere in your shop.

Playing music in your business speaks volumes

66% of UK adults say that the type of music a business plays influences what they buy.*

Engages your customers

The right music captures attention and enhances the experience, whether they're shopping, working out, or relaxing.

Elevates your brand

Music shapes how people experience and remember your business,
strengthening your identity.

Creates the right energy

From motivation and focus, to relaxation and atmosphere, music sets the tone for every moment.

Supports the music industry

Your licence ensures creators are paid when their music powers your
business.

With the Commercial Playlisting Licence, you can:

  • Create custom playlists designed specifically for your business
  • Download and copy music to suit your brand and customer
    experience
  • Access over 45 million musical works spanning decades, genres and
    audiences

Who it's for

The Commercial Playlisting Licence is perfect for any business that creates and downloads its own playlists, including:

  • Independent cafés and restaurants
  • Retail shops and boutiques
  • Gyms, fitness studios and health clubs
  • Salons and wellness space
  • Offices and co-working spaces

Flexible and easy

Simple to use, affordable and no need for complicated processes – just your playlists designed by you for you.

Tailored to your needs

Our licence adapts to how you use music, with pricing based on the number of tracks you copy each year.

How are fees calculated?

Fees are based on how many tracks you copy for use in your business each year. This keeps costs fair and proportionate to your usage.

Starting fees begin at £42.56 + VAT per year for up to 1,000 tracks
copied.

Do you still need a Public Performance licence from PPL PRS?

The Commercial Playlisting Licence covers the MCPS reproduction right (which covers the copying or 'dubbing' of music) only. PRS for Music sell this licence on behalf of MCPS.

You will still need a PPL PRS public performance licence (TheMusicLicence)
to play music in your business.

TheMusicLicence allows you to play music to customers and staff, whether through radio, TV, digital devices or live performances.
