What does the General Entertainment Online Licence cover?
By general entertainment we mean any content which contains music but is not a pure music service, for example streaming or downloading of full track audio or music videos which should be licensed under the Online Music Licence (OML).
The GEOL licence can provide an effective licensing solution for any service giving access to streamed or downloadable TV content, feature films, user generated content or anything else containing music.
Our repertoire includes the vast majority of specially commissioned music, library music, classical and chart music from the UK and our worldwide affiliated societies.
Regardless of whether you buy-in your programmes or make the content yourself, if your on-demand material contains our members’ music you will need a licence from us.
Cost
General Entertainment Online Licence fees are calculated on an individual basis, based on factors including:
- Music hours consumed
- Viewer/subscriber figures
- Level of music use
Customers pay a non-refundable annual licence fee. The minimum annual fee is £200 or pro-rata if less than 12 months. We are currently offering customers a short-term licence that runs until the end of 2011.
What next?
All GEOL licensees are allocated a specific PRS for Music account manager to advise you and answer any queries you may have before, during or after the licensing process.
