PRS for Music sign licensing deal for Apple Music - deals includes Apple Music and Beats 1 Radio on a multi-territory basis

PRS for Music today confirmed it has agreed a music licence for new streaming service, Apple Music.

Apple Music was officially launched to the public yesterday, Tuesday, 30 June and the PRS for Music licence covers on-demand streaming subscriptions in all European territories as well as its Beats 1 Radio platform. Consumers will be able to enjoy PRS for Music’s repertoire on-demand over the internet and on iOS devices such as iPhones, iPads, Macs and PCs.

The licence covers PRS, MCPS and IMPEL rights. Members will be remunerated from launch for the new service, including for the 3-month free trial period available to new subscribers to the service.

PRS for Music has been working with Apple for over 10 years to ensure its new products and services have been launched legitimately and licensed efficiently.

PRS for Music has over 2,000 online customers and in the past year and the organisation’s online revenues have grown 17.5% to over £79.7M, with royalties from streaming services at £38.8m exceeded those of downloads for the first time at £26.7m.
