PRS for Music announces new appointment

18 November 2014

Stephen Davidson appointed as an external Director and Executive Board chair

The organisation that represents over 100,000 songwriters, composers and publishers has confirmed the appointment of Stephen Davidson, as an external Director and Executive Board chair.

Stephen replaces Peter Bamford, who left PRS for Music at the end of October after six years of service, during which time he made a major contribution to the governance of the organisation.

Stephen has held various positions in both industry and investment banking, finally at WestLB Panmure where he was Global Head of Media and Telecoms and Vice Chairman of Investment Banking. He is Chairman of Datatec Ltd (JSE and AIM listed) and Actual Experience plc, a non-executive director of Inmarsat plc and Restore plc and Deputy Chairman of Jaywing Group plc.

From 1 January 2015, Stephen will chair the Licensing and Nomination-Remuneration Committees in addition to the Executive Board of PRS for Music Ltd.

PRS for Music’s Chief Executive, Robert Ashcroft commented: "Stephen’s experience at the helm of so many global companies positioned him ideally for the role of Chairman of our Executive Board. The breadth of his knowledge, particularly of media and telecoms, perfectly equips him to help to drive our business forward and I am delighted to welcome him to PRS for Music."
