William Booth - Sony/ATV EMI Music Publishing

William Booth

I took up my present position in December 2012 rejoining in effect two of my previous three employers. My role is broad covering virtually all areas of Sony/ATV EMI’s business. I was re-elected to the PRS Board in 2013, after a prior period of service as a director.

Having graduated in 1979 from Kings College London with a law degree, in 1986 I became a partner in the West End practice Harbottle and Lewis specialising in music business work before becoming Director of Legal and Business Affairs at London Records in 1989.

In 1992 I joined the then Sony Music Publishing as MD of their UK company and started my career as a music publisher, subsequently becoming responsible for Sony/ATV European business and for all regional budgeting, deal approvals and relations with collecting societies.

Joining EMI Music Publishing as Director of Business Development in 2003, I subsequently became Deputy MD there before joining PRS for Music in 2010 where I was Director of Licensing for two years.

I have also been a previous Board Member of MCPS the MPA and IMPA and have over 25 years’ experience in senior leadership roles and a comprehensive understanding of the music business.
