Mike Box - Reservoir/Reverb Music

Mike Box

Mike Box has been the CFO of Reverb Music since 1999 helping the company grow into one of the leading UK independent music publishers.

Mike has worked in the music industry for over 30 years beginning his career with WEA Records in 1982. In 1985 he joined PRT as Financial Accountant working for both the record label (formerly PYE) and the distribution arm until the catalogue was sold in 1989. He then became Financial Controller of Sonet Records and Publishing which included administering the publishing catalogues of Depeche Mode, Erasure and Nick Cave amongst others.

In 1995 Mike joined China Records as Financial and Commercial Manager where the company’s significant successes included Morcheeba and The Levellers. After China were acquired by Warner Music in 1999, Mike joined Reverb Music overseeing all aspects of the finance and business affairs operations. Following the untimely death of Reverb’s founder Ian Wright, Mike took on a broader role taking responsibility for many of the company’s strategic business issues, including the company’s sale to US publisher Reservoir Media in 2012. Reservoir/Reverb Music now acts as the European headquarters for its existing writers and also as a creative hub for Reservoir’s expanding roster and catalogues.

Mike was one of the founding members of IMPEL (Independent Music Publishers E-Licensing) and is a director of IMPEL Ltd. He is currently the chairman of the IMPEL Advisory Group which liaises with the PRS and ICE licensing teams in negotiating multi-territory licences with the major digital services. Mike has contributed his time and expertise to many MCPS and PRS committees, is an active member of the MPA and is regularly invited to speak on industry panels.

Mike is also a partner of XL Talent managing a roster of producers and songwriters.
