Barry Blue

Barry Blue

Barry Blue is part of that small elite group of writer/producers who have had successful careers spanning over six decades.

From ‘humble’ beginnings as bass player in the original line-up of heavy rock band Uriah Heep… Barry moved on to develop his songwriting skills working for the Bee Gees publishing company Abigail Music from 1967 – 1969.

His talent was recognised by Don Kirshner who in 1970 signed him to ATV-Kirshner Music where he co-wrote his first major hit Sugar Me which became a million-seller for his long-time co-writer Lynsey de Paul.

A successful, multi-faceted decade followed as either a writer, producer or artist – in 1973 Barry signed to Bell Records achieving five UK hits including the huge pop standard Dancin’ On A Saturday Night.

Constantly pushing boundaries with his innovative production techniques, Barry found, developed and produced the multi-million selling band Heatwave who became the first British Funk/Soul act to take the U.S. by storm with such mega-classic hits such as Boogie Nights, Always and Forever and The Groove Line.

Still to this day an active songwriter / producer, Barry has had over 40 hits to his credit with such diverse artists as Andrea Bocelli, The Saturdays, The Wanted, Pixie Lott, Diana Ross, Celine Dion, and Bananarama to name just a few…

In film and TV he has provided the scores and/or themes for Northern Soul, The Eyes of Laura Mars, Long Good Friday, Escape to Athena and Anita & Me amongst many others.

Barry Blue has also had a dynamic career in production music producing and composing over 100 album projects for all the major media labels.

He is a committed supporter of the creators’ rights in music of all genres and styles and dedicates his time to becoming even more pro-active in this pursuit.
