General terms and conditions 

In this section you’ll find sample copies of the current public performance licence contracts provided by PRS for Music - they include the standard terms and conditions of the licence.

Sample copyright music licence contracts:

Distance sold licence

Confirmatory terms and conditions sent to music users with whom we have concluded a licence-contract over the telephone; typically used for licensees with four or fewer premises.

Premises licence

Written terms and conditions of licence issued during or after a visit to the licensee; typically used for licensees with four or fewer premises.

PRS for Music/PPL joint licence for community buildings and small workplaces

Issued by PRS for Music to permit the public performance of music in PRS’ repertoire and, on behalf of Phonographic Performance Limited, the use of copyright sound recordings in community buildings and small workplaces (office, factories and garages with 4 or fewer employees).

Corporate licence

Issued to licensees, typically with five or more premises.

Classical and popular music concerts, dance parties and festivals licence

Issued to promoters of [and concert hall proprietors in respect of] classical and popular music concerts, dance parties and festivals.

Variety & theatre licence

Issued to promoters of and theatre proprietors in respect of theatrical presentations and variety shows.

Live music premises licence

Issued to licensees who own or run live music premises, such as a live music arena.
