EA to license game music for commercial use

EA logoComputer games publisher Electronic Arts (EA) has teamed up with Extreme Music to make its catalogue of more than 2,000 pieces of original music available for commercial licensing.

EA have often used licensed tracks from artists in its games, now its in-house compositions, which include many pieces commissioned from big-name composers, will be available to license.

It might mean that music from computer game The Sims could find its way into TV ads or that Battlefield's rousing music could be used for a film trailer.
