PRS for Music licenses Amazon MP3 service
PRS for Music has announced that they have signed a licensing deal for download store
PRS for Music (previously known as the MCPS-PRS Alliance) has announced today that they have signed a licensing deal with Amazon EU S.a.r.l., for Amazon’s new MP3 download store in the UK.
Launched on 3 December 2008, the deal provides the service with access to the Anglo-American mechanical repertoire of peermusic, Chrysalis and other UK independent publishers, as well as the communication to the public rights of all PRS for Music direct members (excluding EMI Music Publishing writers).
The Amazon deal also provides the service access to Warner/Chappell's Anglo-American catalogue, via PRS for Music’s participation in Warner/Chappell’s PEDL Initiative.
Amazon have established a hugely successful MP3 store in the US and we are excited about the potential they have in the UK. PRS for Music has been able to provide an essential and wide repertoire base to Amazon and hopes that this is the start of a strong working relationship, offering them support in any future expansion plans.
I am delighted that we have been able to play a part in the launch of this exciting new service and look forward to a great future with such a dynamic partner. I hope this will be the first of many such deals for peermusic and PRS for Music.
