Free-to-attend evening sees experts from across the music industry share advice and knowledge with local artists

Daniel Jones speaking at a PRS for Music Panel

Have you ever wanted to write for a TV show or create music for advertising? PRS for Music is visiting Manchester to offer a free event for local music creators on Tuesday 6 February.

Following a string of successful panels throughout 2017 in Liverpool, Leeds and Hull, How To: Place Your Music In Films And TV, the first event of 2018, will take place in the Northern Quarter’s Band On The Wall, one of the cornerstones of the city’s thriving music and cultural landscape for the greater part of a century.

As part of the special panel, experienced speakers from across the world of ‘sync’ will divulge everything attendees have ever wanted to know about getting music used in film, on TV shows and in adverts. Collectively, the panellists have placed music across a whole range of media, from The Only Way is Essex through to videogames, as well as adverts for McDonald’s, travel company TUI and Nike.

There is something special about getting your music on the screen – whether it’s in a memorable advert or a dramatic moment in the latest hit period series. This panel will discuss everything from planning your pitch to the world of sync rights and making sure you get paid. As a membership organisation, PRS for Music doesn’t just collect royalties on your behalf, we’re also here for creators to turn to for advice and education on the music business.
