Carlin, Wixen UK and Ole UK join independent music publishers’ group, IMPEL

One-stop shop for digital music services bolsters its world class indie publisher collective to a total of 25 and confirms distributions of over £10m

PRS for Music today announced that from 1 October 2013 Carlin Music Corporation, Wixen Music UK Limited and Ole (UK) will all be joining the Independent Music Publishers’ European Licensing collective, more widely known as IMPEL, managed by PRS for Music. This will increase the total IMPEL membership, comprising some of the world’s most respected and successful independent publishers, to 25.

IMPEL was set up in 2010 to allow independent publishers to take advantage of the European Commission Recommendation on the collective management of online music rights and provides a one-stop shop for digital music services such as YouTube and Deezer, with whom PRS for Music have just agreed new multi-territory licences. PRS for Music administers the rights on behalf of IMPEL and has now distributed over £10million to members of the group from Pan-European Licensing deals.

We are excited to sign with IMPEL. It is vital that the independent publishing community stand together with an agreed agenda and one voice with regard to online licensing. The combined experience, knowledge and expertise of the individuals comprising the collective membership of IMPEL, together with the excellent management and team at PRS for Music, provides a first class platform for us to move forward in the key digital marketplace, confident that we will be able to secure the very best rates, service levels and opportunities for our songwriters and clients.
