The Unsigned Music Awards are set to return in 2018, in partnership with Live Nation and The Great Escape.

The Awards will take over the 4,000 capacity Brighton Centre to celebrate the UK’s best unsigned acts and officially open The Great Escape 2018.

The nominees will be selected by the music industry’s leading influencers, booking agencies, promoters and festival partners.

The event follows the inaugural Unsigned Music Awards in 2016, which crowned Elle Exxe, Brother & Bones and Malaika among the country’s most exciting new act.

The next edition takes place on 16 May 2018 and will feature live performances, 17 award presentations and a roster of celebrity hosts.

Rory Bett, chief executive of Mama Festivals and The Great Escape Festival, said: ‘For the past 12 years The Great Escape has led the way in supporting upcoming talent, doing more than any other festival to get new and emerging bands onto the industry radar.

‘Bringing the Unsigned Music Awards to The Great Escape is a perfect launch platform to the 2018 festival and just another way that we can continue to champion the music talent of the future.’

Simon O’Kelly, chief executive of UMA Music Group and the Unsigned Music Award says: ‘We are excited to continue the growth of the Unsigned Music Awards as a platform to promote unsigned, self-signed and otherwise emerging artists, around the world.

‘Opening Europe’s largest festival for new music with an award ceremony that recognises only new music makes perfect sense and we can’t think of a more suitable partner to bring this vision to life, than Live Nation.’
