Sir George Martin receives Gold Badge Award today

Beatles producer Sir George Martin is to receive a Gold Badge award in recognition of his work supporting songwriters and composers.

Pink Floyd drummer Nick Mason and Jude Kelly OBE, Artistic Director of the Southbank Centre, are among the other recipients at this year’s event.

The British Academy of Songwriters, Composers and Authors (BASCA), in association with PRS for Music, will present this year’s awards, taking place at The Savoy in London.

The Gold Badge Awards, now in its 39th year, was set up to award the talents of those who have made an outstanding contribution to the music industry such as broadcasters, recording artists and producers.

Previous winners of the award include soul singer Shirley Bassey, record producer Trevor Horn and jazz musician Ronnie Scott.

BASCA will be awarding the Gold Badge of Merit to (in alphabetical order):
