Sade is Britain's highest USA earner

Sade was named as Britain's highest-earning artist in the US during 2011.

Sade was named as Britain's highest-earning artist in the US during 2011.

Revenue from touring and the veteran singer's The Ultimate Collection compilation amounted to $16.4million according to American music industry bible Billboard magazine.

Adele's stunning year of success with her album 21 netted her $13.1million. Other Brits named in Billboard's top forty earners are Elton John ($11.97m), The Beatles ($6.74m), Sir Paul McCartney ($6.72m) and Rod Stewart ($6.4m).

Formed in the early 1980s, Sade is a band led by singer and songwriter Helen Folasade Adu aka Sade with saxophonist Stuart Matthewman, bassist Paul Denman and Andrew Hale on keyboards. In addition to Grammy and Brit awards, Sade was awarded an OBE for her services to music in 2002.
