Public vote for four new BRIT Awards categories about to open

The awards categories that are open to public vote for the first time are Best Alternative/Rock Act, Best Dance Act, Best Hip Hop/Grime/Rap Act and Best Pop/R&B Act.

The public vote for four new genre awards in The BRIT Awards 2022 will be open from tomorrow, Thursday 20 January.

In collaboration with, and powered by TikTok, the awards categories that are open to public vote for the first time are Best Alternative/Rock Act, Best Dance Act, Best Hip Hop/Grime/Rap Act and Best Pop/R&B Act.

The 20 nominees across the four new awards include artists such as Adele, Becky Hill, Central Cee, Ed Sheeran, Glass Animals, Joel Corry, Little Simz, Sam Fender, Tom Grennan, and Wolf Alice.

The vote will launch on a dedicated voting hub at 12 noon GMT, Thursday 20 January and close 6pm GMT Thursday 3 February. Fans will get to decide on the outcome of these four awards which have been introduced for 2022 to spotlight the incredible British talent creating music within these genres.

Content from the artists and the BRIT’s TikTok account will also be offered to fans, while users of TikTok will be able to cast up to ten votes per category, per day, with vote limits resetting at midnight GMT every night for the duration of the voting window.

The BRIT Awards 2022 with Mastercard, hosted by Mo Gilligan, will take place Tuesday 8 February at The O2 arena, and will be broadcast on ITV and ITV Hub.
