PRS for Music and the acclaimed new music ensemble have joined forces with award-winning artist and composer Mira Calix to offer composers the chance to take part in development and recording workshops.

The workshops will take place in 2020 and are for solo or chamber ensemble and electronics.

Five composers will be given the opportunity to attend three days of workshops in London on 24 to 25 April and 12 September 2020.

The chosen composers will take part in professional development sessions with industry experts and workshop their ideas for bass clarinet, bassoon, percussion (one player), piano, double bass and electronics.

The initiative is open to composers from different backgrounds and levels of experience.

The workshops will be an opportunity to revisit an existing work or to explore something new.

Composers will receive feedback from Riot Ensemble and Mira Calix as well as audio recordings of the workshops for private and public use.

After the workshops conclude, one composer will receive a paid commission to write a new work for solo performer with electronics for The Riot Ensemble 2021 season.

The opportunity is open to current PRS for Music writer members and individuals who are not affiliated with any performing rights organisation.
