Noel Gallagher will receive the Songwriter of the Year award at the BRIT Awards 2026.

Chosen by ‘a select panel of expert judges’ and recognising ‘exceptional songwriting talent’, the honour has previously been awarded to the likes of RAYE, Charli xcx and Ed Sheeran.

Noel will pick up the award during this year’s BRITs, which will take place at Co-op Live in his home city of Manchester on 28 February.

The honour follows on from Oasis’ hugely successful reunion tour in 2025, which saw Noel reunite with his brother Liam to perform live together for the first time since their split in 2009. The band played 41 times during the Live ’25 tour, providing a huge bump to their record sales.

At one point during the tour, the top five positions in the UK Albums Chart featured three Oasis albums. The band also sold in excess of one million albums in 2025 alone — the only UK artist to achieve such a feat.

Stacey Tang, Chair of the 2026 BRIT Awards Committee and Co-President of RCA Records at Sony Music UK, said in a statement: 'For more than three decades, Noel has crafted songs that have become part of our collective story: bold, brilliant, and always recognisable. His songs have soundtracked memories for multiple generations and defined the spirit of British music globally.

'Honouring Noel as Songwriter of the Year celebrates a remarkable body of work and a creative force that continues to connect and inspire artists and fans worldwide.'

It’s also been confirmed this week that Mark Ronson will pick up the Outstanding Contribution to Music award at the BRITs 2026.

Last month saw the full list of nominations for this year’s ceremony be announced.
