Brolin, Floating Points and Dutch Uncles are among the first ten acts to be awarded grants by the Momentum Music Fund.

PRS for Music Foundation unveiled the list of new talent to be backed by the fund as well as an exclusive partnership with digital streaming service Deezer.

Other artists to have been chosen include Esco Williams, Hacktivist, Hannah Peel, Kindness, Teleman, Thumpers and The Wytches.

The funding of up to £15,000 will help the acts finance recording and releasing their music as well as pay for marketing and tours.

Deezer’s contribution will include additional funds as well as valuable promotional opportunities via a bespoke Momentum Deezer App, playlists, editorial features and further artist opportunities.

Vanessa Reed, executive director of PRS for Music Foundation, said: ‘The overall quality of the Momentum applications to our first deadline has reinforced my belief in the importance of this fund and the impact it’s going to have on its first line-up of talented beneficiaries. Our message to those who were not successful this time is not to give up. There are more funding deadlines to come and we’re actively seeking additional sponsors to increase the support we can offer.'

Mark Foster, Managing Director, Deezer UK and Ireland, added: 'Deezer is delighted to be associated with this important new artist development fund because we are all about enabling artists to engage with new fans and fans to discover new talent. What better way to contribute to this process than by providing the means to help promising artists realise their potential.’

The artists were chosen from around 500 submitted applications by a panel of specialist music advisors, including representatives from record labels and booking agencies, radio DJs and journalists.

The next deadline is 30 August with many more opportunities to apply to come across the two years the fund is running for.

The Momentum Music Fund was launched with public funding from National Lottery through Arts Council England in May this year at The Great Escape Festival.
