The programme offers the chance to take part in workshops on opera composing, directing, conducting and singing, led by top classical music figures.

Composers will also learn about the production process of three new innovative operatic commissions – one hour per opera in each three-hour masterclass.

The programme will culminate in a triple bill performance at the Arts Theatre in Leicester Square, London.

It will be led by Kasper Holten, director of opera at Royal Opera House, Dr Robert Saxton, professor of composition at the University of Oxford, award-winning conductor David Parry and writer/director Bettina Bartz.

The classes run from 6 to 13 November at the Arts Theatre. Places on each class costs between £5 and £10.

Helios Collective was founded by artistic director Ella Marchment in 2012 to foster and promote new operas.

The collective provides opportunities for young and promising talent across the creative spectrum, focusing on developing works from the ground up.

In related news, Marchment has just been named the recipient of the prestigious Opera Awards Foundation Bursary, in recognition for her work in supporting innovative new operas.
