Public Service Broadcasting will be the focus of a new panel format at The Great Escape this year, which offers practical advice for artists on creating a unique sound and live experience.
The panel, which takes place on Friday 20 May in Brighton, is a must for all musicians, artists, songwriters and performers looking to stand out from the crowd, plus anyone involved in launching new acts.
It’s presented by PRS for Music, PPL and PRS for Music Foundation, and, alongside the band also includes expert panellists such as James Endeacott (1965 Records) and publicist Ritu Morton (Six07 Press).
Public Service Broadcasting is the high concept, corduroy-clad brainchild of J. Willgoose Esq who, together with drummer Wrigglesworth, has been on a quest to inform, educate and entertain audiences around the globe since 2009.
The pair weave samples from old public information films and archive footage around live drums, guitar and electronics to create intricate, genre-busting albums.
For this panel, J. Willgoose Esq will reveal how he’s developed his offbeat ideas into two Top 40 LPs and a powerful live proposition, which includes vintage TV sets and state-of-the-art video projection devices.
He’ll also discuss how he’s accessed vital funding opportunities including the PRS for Music Foundation’s Momentum Music Fund and International Showcase Fund to further his career.
He will be joined on stage by key members of his live, press, label and management team who’ve helped realise his ambitions.
Alongside Morton and Endeacott, panellists will include David Manders (Liquid Management/Test Card Recordings/Liquid Records) and chair Keith Harris (PPL).
