Birmingham songstress Laura Mvula and songwriter and producer Naughty Boy were the two big winners at the MOBO Awards 2013.
Laura, our cover star from earlier in the year, claimed the gongs for best female and best r’n’b/soul act while Naughty Boy, aka Shahid Khan, won the PRS for Music sponsored best song and best video prizes for his number one hit, La La La.
Other winners included Fuse ODG as best African act and Rudimental who claimed the award for best album with their debut, Home.
Mutya Keisha & Siobhan (MKS), Ashley Banjo of Diversity, Kimberly Wyatt, Gabrielle, Katy B, Stooshe and So Solid Crew were among the artists to perform at this year’s 18th anniversary event.
Kanya King MBE, MOBO Awards founder and CEO, said: ‘It has been an exciting road this year that has seen artists both new and established demonstrate their worth and talent.
‘For us at MOBO, the awards are about recognising the exciting and inspiring artists out there and giving them a platform to perform on. This year has been a great representation of the wealth of talent MOBO music has to offer.’
