Latest acts to receive support from PRS Foundation’s PPL Momentum Music Fund revealed

The first targeted Yorkshire based PPL Momentum Accelerator grantees have also been announced.

PRS Foundation together with PPL, Creative Wales, Arts Council of Northern Ireland, Invest Northern Ireland and Spotify reveal the next artists who will receive support from the pioneering PPL Momentum Music Fund.

The artists selected by are as follows:

Camilla George – Recording

Fatherson - Filmed live show, session videos and social content

Fatima – Recording and marketing

Florence Black – Recording and marketing

InVisions – Recording and marketing

Kadeem Tyrell – Recording and marketing

Lava La Rue – Marketing

Lavida Loca – Recording and marketing

Magugu – Recording

Sarathy Korwar – Recording

Tom Aspaul – Recording and marketing

Tom Joshua – Recording

PPL Momentum supported Sarathy Korwar said: ‘With this PPL Momentum Music Fund help I will be able to make the album I have dreamt of making without compromising on anything. I am hugely excited to start working on it.’

Ben Wynter, grants and programmes manager, PRS Foundation, said: ‘We’re delighted to again be supporting another round of hugely talented artists through our PPL Momentum Music Fund.  Our support has become even more critical as music creators look to adapt to the new challenges around them whilst still needing to advance their careers. We’re proud to play our part in enabling music creators to have that opportunity to create and develop innovative and forward thinking ideas and strategies to allow them to capture new audiences, which in the current climate is essential to achieving success.’

Sarah Mitchell, director of membership and communications, PPL, said: ‘We are extremely proud of the support that the PPL Momentum Fund has been able to offer artists during this very tough year. It is helping them not just to keep their careers afloat but to continue to develop them, be that through recording new music or marketing and promotion to reach new audiences. The benefits of this funding are clear to see, with four of 2020’s Mercury Prize nominees having previously been supported by the PPL Momentum Music Fund. Well done to our latest recipients and we wish them all the best for the future.’

Gerwyn Evans, deputy director, Creative Wales, said: ‘I’m delighted that we’ve been able to support these two artists through the PPL Momentum Music Fund to break through to the next step in their career. I wish them well for the future and encourage any artists from across Wales at a tipping point in their career to bid for the next round of funding.’

In addition to this latest round, three Yorkshire based music creators have received PPL Momentum Accelerator grants of up to £5,000, in partnership with Music:Leeds’ Launchpad, to develop their careers and continue building momentum to the get to the next vital tipping points in their careers.

The artists receiving PPL Momentum Accelerator support are:

English Teacher – support will go towards recording and marketing

Harkin – support will go towards recording and marketing

Simeon Walker – support will go towards PR, marketing and video production

PPL Momentum Accelerator funding supports exciting artists with a growing fanbase, currently working to establish a music industry team while the full PPL Momentum Music Fund support is for those artists with a team already in place and at a tipping point, ready to take the next step in their careers. The next deadline for applications to the PPL Momentum Music Fund is 16 November 2020 at 6pm via the PRS Foundation website.
