The Gramophone Classical Music Awards 2023 took place at the De Vere Grand Connaught Rooms in London last night (October 4).

There was added cause for celebration at this year's ceremony as Gramophone continued to mark the 100th anniversary of their magazine.

Celebrating 'exceptional recordings, artists and labels' from across the world of classical music, the awards were presented by Gramophone Editor-in-Chief James Jolly and featured live performances from many of this year's winners.

Among the notable winners last night was soprano Dame Felicity Lott, who picked up the Lifetime Achievement Award. Fabio Luisi’s recording of Nielsen’s Fourth and Fifth Symphonies with the Danish National Symphony Orchestra won both Recording of the Year and the Orchestral Award.

Another highlight of the night came in the Contemporary category, which was sponsored by PPL and PRS for Music. The Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra’s album of works by composer Lotta Wennäkoski (pictured above) under Nicholas Collon took home the prize.
