Google Play has been announced as the official download and music streaming partner of the BRIT Awards 2015.

Viewers of the awards, which are taking place on 25 February, will be able to download and stream performances from the event using the platform shortly after the end of the televised show.

Google Play Music will also share the official media partner status of the Single of the Year award with Capital FM as part of the collaboration.

Geoff Taylor, chief executive of BPI and the BRIT Awards, said: ‘We're delighted that the BRIT Awards are partnering with Google Play to offer fans the chance to download or stream unique BRITs performances while raising money for War Child and our music education charity the BRIT Trust.

‘We want music fans to be able to experience the BRITs across every digital channel, and this partnership is an important pillar of that strategy.’

Ed Sheeran, Sam Smith, Paloma Faith, Royal Blood and George Ezra are among the artists lined up to perform at the event at London’s O2 arena.
