Tickets for Glastonbury 2013 sold out in record time, organisers have announced.

The 120,000 remaining tickets for next year’s event were all gone within one hour and 27 minutes of going on sale on Sunday (6 October).

As previously reported, 15,000 coach and ticket packages went up for sale and sold out within half an hour last Friday (4 October).

In a joint statement, Michael and Emily Eavis said: ‘We have, once again, been blown away by the numbers of people who were hoping to join us at the festival and we're sorry that many of you have missed out on a ticket.

‘We genuinely try to make the ticket system as fair as it can be, but when demand outstrips supply, it is an unfortunate inevitability that some people will be left disappointed.’

Ticketing website See Tickets experienced what it described as a ‘very difficult half hour’ on Twitter due to the high levels of demand.

Once the site stabilised, See Tickets went on to sell an average of 3,000 tickets per minute.

Prices for next year’s Glastonbury increased to £210 plus £5 booking fee while the event's acts have yet to be confirmed.
