Gareth Griffith wins Scottish BAFTA award

Gareth Griffiths, a student at the Edinburgh College of Art has won the PRS for Music-sponsored Best Original Music at this year's BAFTA in Scotland New Talent Awards.

Gareth Griffiths, a student at the Edinburgh College of Art has won the PRS for Music-sponsored Best Original Music at this year's BAFTA in Scotland New Talent Awards.

The awards, hosted by Scottish author and broadcaster Muriel Gray took place on 22 March at Oran Mor in Glasgow. Griffiths, a composer and sound designer won the Best Original Music for the music to the animated film An Interrupted Story.

The other nominees in the Best Original Music category were Blair Mowat for Electric Man and Claire McKenzie for My First Spellbook.

The BAFTA in Scotland New Talent Awards are open to new work made by students and first-time practitioners and highlight the bright future of Scottish film, television and games.

Forty industry professionals across a wide range of disciplines sat on the Jury for each of the 11 categories in competition this year. Jurors included the award-winning John Mckay, Kate Dickie, Paul Leonard-Morgan, Oliver Cheesman and Michelle Friel.
