As a founder member of the 20th Century Steel Band, Fimber’s music pricked the ears of a generation of artists from Soul II Soul to Jennifer Lopez, who have all sampled the group’s 1975 album Heaven & Hell.

He has since gone on to collaborate with a huge range of musicians including Winifred Atwell and Sun Ra Arkestra. Now signed to Moshi Moshi, he counts Zongamin and Hot Chip as musical connections, with his recent record Con-Fusion blending traditional sounds with electronic productions.

At our recent M magazine 50th issue party we invited him along to play.

Watch him perform live favourite Grey Clouds.
