The London-based independent record label has signed the post-punk quartet to its Fierce Panda publishing arm under a joint venture agreement with Buck Music Group.

The joint venture means that Bucks provides investment, creative sync services and back end administration for Fierce Panda Songs as well as additional support.

Having formed in 2012 Desperate Journalist released their debut self-titled album in 2014, followed by Grow Up in 2017 and their third, In Search of the Miraculous, appeared in February of this year.

Having sold out the Garage in 2018, the band are set to hit the road for the rest of the year with gigs scheduled across the UK and Germany.

Fierce Panada Records are currently celebrating their 25th anniversary, during which time they have released songs by Coldplay, Ash, Keane, Placebo, and Idlewild.

Meanwhile, Buck Music Group is one of the UK’s longest running independent music publishers having launched and developed the careers of David Bowie and Black Sabbath alongside their work with contemporary artists like Honeyblood, James Blunt and Rudimental.

Flash Taylor, Bucks Music Group, says: ‘We’re pleased to be working with Fierce Panda as Desperate Journalist carry on their journey. The buzz around the band gets stronger with every new release, and their reputation for great songs as well as performances continues to grow.’

Simon Williams, Fierce Panda Founder, added: ‘We're delighted to be plugging into the Bucks system for this opportunity for Fierce Panda Songs, and trust that many more acts will follow in the shadowy footsteps of Desperate Journalist in the months and years ahead.’
