Elbow achieve first number one LP

Manchester rock band Elbow have achieved their first number one album with their latest release The Take Off And Landing Of Everything.

Manchester rock band Elbow have achieved their first number one album with their latest release The Take Off And Landing Of Everything.

According to the Official Charts Company (OCC), the band’s sixth effort has knocked Pharrell Williams’ G I R L off the top spot.

The Bury-based group’s previous highest charting album was 2011’s Build A Rocket Boys!, which reached second in the charts.

Paloma Faith’s third studio album - A Perfect Contradiction - was in new in the album charts at number two

Elsewhere in the album charts, Metronomy scored their first top 10 album with Love Letters. The quartet’s follow-up to their critically acclaimed 2011 album, The English Riviera, is new in at number seven.

Canadian duo Dvbbs and Miami DJ and producer Borgeous have topped the singles chart with Tsunami (Jump) featuring the vocal talents of Tinie Tempah.
