British rock band Queen were among the winners at the Classic Rock Roll of Honour awards 2015.

Taking place at London’s Roundhouse last night (11 November), the group received the Living Legend Award.

Their hit song Bohemian Rhapsody first charted on November 8, 1975, 40 years ago to the week of the awards. Having sold in excess of 150m albums, they have the unprecedented achievement of all four members being responsible for composing worldwide number one hits including We Will Rock You and We Are The Champions.

Other winners on the night included We Are Harlot as best new band Iron Maiden who collected the gong for best album with their latest record, The Book of Souls.

Siân Llewellyn, Classic Rock magazine editor, said: ‘It was another incredible night at the Classic Rock Roll Of Honour - and one that showed that rock’n’roll is in amazing health.

‘From homegrown legends like Queen, Led Zeppelin and Iron Maiden, to transatlantic stars like Alice Cooper and Nils Lofgren, from new blood like We Are Harlot, The Cadillac Three and Blackberry Smoke to road warriors like Motörhead and Europe, and musical innovators like X Japan, it’s conclusive proof that wherever and whoever you are, rock’n’roll is a universal language.’
