Douglas’ career was launched back in 1986 when he won the Tchaikovsky International Piano Competition in Moscow.
He has since written acclaimed works including Five Fables for chamber orchestra, orchestrations of John Field's Nocturnes, Chant for Columbanus, Bunting Harp Airs, and a series of arrangements of Celtic melodies and songs.
As a recording artist, he regularly releases interpretations of composers including Beethoven and Rachmaninov, and is signed to the Chandos label.
Douglas is artistic director of Camerata Ireland, an orchestra which supports young musicians from both Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland, and in 2002 he received an Order of the British Empire for his services to music.
He said: ‘I am very excited to be working with the team at Chester Music. I have had the good fortune to have performed many of their composers’ music and so feel very privileged to be included in their marvellous company. We have a few beautiful projects realised already and many more planned.’
