MIA collaborator and killer wordsmith Afrikan Boy is to host Paigey Cakey, Nerija and Hak Baker on a stage at this year’s Africa Centre Summer Festival.

He’s also invited Birmingham acts Dee Ajayi and Gambimi, plus 13-strong collective The Fedz, to perform on the Black British Music Stage.

The free event takes place on 19 August in Southwark, London, and will bring together more than 30 artists and DJs over three stages to celebrate the diversity and influence of African and black British music.

The Young Africa Centre Stage, which is programmed by the team behind the centre’s Young Africa group, will feature the best new artists in Afrotrap, soul and spoken word.

Highlights include Autumn Sharif, Nia Ekanem, Kelz BTK, Uyi and Josh Tenor.

Elsewhere, the festival will host a pop-up cinema, art installation by Sokari Douglas Camp CBE, gallery exhibition showcasing the work of Georgina Maxim and Larry Amponsah, plus food and craft stalls.
