Not ones to perch in the same spot for long, the five-piece have also released tracks through Italian Beach Babes’ Records and Fat Cat Records. But it was their solid single Council Flat Blues on Moshi Moshi imprint Not Even Records that kicked off all the fuss in 2011, getting bloggers on both sides of the Atlantic in a right tizz.
Their furious guitar work and crushing drums combine to make them a compelling live act too - all knees and elbows and flighty cheek. Their brutal punk beginnings in 2010 have since evolved to include full-on rock choruses and a live set that’s got the Americans all hot under the collar at South by South West this week.
They were funded to attend by British Music Abroad, and PRS for Music Foundation, so we caught up with them beforehand to find out how band were planning to rock out in Austin.
What are you looking forward to most about SXSW?
Getting a tan, free stuff, laughing at people.
Do you approach showcase gigs like SXSW differently to regular live sets?
Not quite sure what it will be like, gonna have to take it as it comes.
What do you hope to get out of going this year?
Opinion differs throughout the band. Hopefully chance to come back and play more shows.
How important was the British Music Abroad funding to your trip?
We wouldn't have been able to do it otherwise.
If you could perform with anyone onstage at SXSW, who would it be?
Someone really bad so we would look really good.

Merchandise, The Spits, Iggy and the Stooges.
