PRS for Music and Club Fandango present Almost Famous on Thursday 7 July, a night showcasing the best new acts in the music industry. This week's Featured Artists are The Special Ks are one of the acts performing at Almost Famous.
Intelligent and edgy, five-piece electro pop outfit The Special Ks have taken the south by storm with their catchy, synth driven pop, and with their debut album in the final stages of production they are now preparing to embark on their second UK tour.
Band members Howard Kaye (vocals), Darren Watts (keys), Mat Griffiths (guitar), Tom Gandolfo (bass) and Ryan Holt (drums), met through chance encounters after moving to Brighton from all over the UK in 2008. They began rehearsing together immediately and quickly developed a unique style of song writing, creating ways to weave each instrumental part while retaining their trademark energetic dance beats.
