22-year-old Adian Coker, born and raised in Woolwich South London, made a sizeable impression on the underground scene in UK Hip-Hop with his debut mixtape, The Colour Of Magic, released in October 2010. Graduating from Goldsmith’s University with an English degree, Adian released his debut mixtape with 13 tracks all written and produced by himself. One week after releasing the free mixtape, Charlie Sloth selected and played Adian’s track Ebenezer Screws on his hip-hop show on BBC 1Xtra. The mixtape carries an authentic British sound with a colouring of American style hip-hop beats. The gifted wordsmith releases metaphors and imaginable stories with ease over the top of each track, hinted with humour and realism.
With continuous plays from Charlie Sloth, Adian worked on his live performance with a string of dates across London, including industry favourites YoYo’s and I Luv Live supporting Yasmin, Wretch 32 and Fem Fel. Not one to follow the crowd, Adian performs with a full live band including stripped down breaks from his mixtape tracks. These live performances create a striking impression on crowds making the experience interactive and inspiring.
With increasing support from 1Xtra, DJ Target chose Adian’s track Good To Go as his Homegrown Track Of The Week in February. Now working on music videos for some of the stand out tracks from his debut mixtape, Adian is also finishing his follow up mixtape, which has industry figures and fans eagerly awaiting the release.
