Singer-songwriter Alex Winston was born and raised in Detroit. She relocated to New York last year and hooked up with production duo The Knocks. The multi-instrumentalist’s single Choice Notes is currently backing the latest Hyundai car advert.

This teenage ‘indie-hop’ duo self-released its debut EP Shun the Non-Believer late last year and has already made The Guardian's Band of the Day slot. The pair mix grime and guitars with samples and have been compared to late 80s hip-hop bands such as De La Soul and The Pharcyde.

Outspoken chanteuse Anna Calvi graced many a ‘One to Watch’ list at the start of the year, having signed to Domino Records and supported the likes of Nick Cave’s Grinderman on tour. Her debut album was released with much fanfare last month and early support has come from BBC 6 Music and NME.
