His sound incorporates vintage synths, Rhodes keyboards, guitars, real drums – whatever the 25-year-old multi-instrumentalist can lay his hands on. Echoes of Caribou and Toro Y Moi showcase his eclectic approach to production while elements of disco and seventies jazz funk creep onto tracks like Invitation. Elsewhere, his tracks Popup Cinema and Home & Consonance deftly meld old school house with Latin flavours.

TROPICS has already caught the attention of Pitchfork, XLR8R and Clash, as well as a number of bands including Bear in Heaven, Poliça and Little Dragon, who he has remixed.

He released his debut album Parodia Fire through Planet Mu in 2011 and returns this spring on the Five Easy Pieces imprint with new track Don’t You Know, out 22 April.

Earlier this year he received British Music Abroad funding to attend South by South West. We caught up with him beforehand to find out more. You can read our interview here.
