Their ice cool post punk sound is more Andy Warhol’s New York than traditional Manchester but has won them a dedicated following both in their home city and beyond.
The band have just confirmed the release of their debut album Girls Like Us on Bella Union in September and is the culmination of some hard graft on the band’s part since the release of the LuvU4Lyf EP.
They’ve played live gigs in disused office blocks, hotel basements and toured with the likes of other indie darlings Best Coast and Savages. An uber-limited gold cassette single released on their own Haus of Pins label also sold out in seconds before the band hooked up with Bella Union. They’ve gone on to play even more gigs across Europe and lose a member (previous drummer Lara) before spending a week at Liverpool's Parr Street Studios and recording their debut album.
Faith from the band said: ‘Girls Like Us isn't about being like us, it's about being yourself. I always wanted to be in a band, ever since I can remember, it's all I’ve ever wanted to do to ... our album may have been recorded and mixed in a week but it’s been dreamed about for years! We had to be ruthless but we've got each other’s backs, we don't let each other make bad decisions.’
