Who? 18-year old Millie Turner.

What? Glistening dancefloor pop.

From where? Homerton, east London.

What’s the story? Teenager Millie Turner may still only be studying her A-levels, but she's already got an impressive run of club-ready singles behind her that have made the likes of Wonderland, Noisy, and NME sit up and take note.

Born into a family of artists and raised in Hackney, Millie was pretty much destined to fall into the arts, but music happened almost by chance. First there was the community church that got the wheels in motion for performance and collaboration. 'We wouldn’t play church songs, it was more Beatles stuff. It was a weird church!' she explains. Then, when the majority of her friends went to the BRIT School while she stayed at sixth form in east London, her evenings were suddenly freed up to experiment and create.

Teaming up with her friend and producer known only as Dave, the pair set to work honing euphoric beats and house-fused soundscapes, spliced with Millie's folky, ethereal vocals. Resulting tracks like Underwater, The Shadow and She Was a Dancer are future-club hits that signal the arrival of a songwriter destined for big things.

Naturally, she's already been snapped up to play The Great Escape next May, and performs at the festival’s First Fifty show on 27 November at the Courtyard Theatre in Hoxton, London.

Check her out now before things explode...

Sounds like? Blissed-out dancefloor tunes with a folky edge.

Predicted to? Feature on loads of 2019 Ones To Watch lists.
